A muster roll does not list everyone who passes through the harbour. It records the crew — by rank, by craft, by that for which one is called when the water grows uneasy. Marcel Füssinger stands first on ours, not because he is the eldest, but because he is the one who holds the flag: under Equanimity AG, under the brand Palaimon Capital, between patriarch and helmsmen.

His working life began in 2005 in the paint shop of the Liebherr works in Nenzing — an apprenticeship as an industrial painter, then the priming of slewing and offshore cranes that landed in harbours he then knew only from catalogues. He was an apprentice, in the sense that shipping takes seriously: someone who first learns how heavy metal is, before he decides where it is to go. Since 2012 he has worked from Liechtenstein as an entrepreneur. CloudLab took almost a decade until the sale to the NASDAQ-listed Cimpress group. Newspaces and Gravit Designer were the European Figma near-miss that went to Corel in 2018. In Singapore he keeps a standalone holding for special situations; under Equanimity he has, since 2015, accompanied regulated tokenisations, restructurings such as Envion, the restoration of XiD Technologies from the liquidation bottleneck, and the discreet work when a share register suddenly no longer adds up.

What a harbour master on the muster roll means

In the old shipping, the harbour master was not the richest man on the quay. He was the one who knew which ship received which berth, which pilot was called for which channel, and when a patriarch would do better to stay one more night in harbour than to put to sea. Marcel is that for this house. He writes the Preface. He keeps Office Hours. He decides who sails under the flag — and who merely passes by.

That distinguishes him from the friends in harbour such as Anna Jelen or Carmelo Pistorio: they are compass and seamanship, whom we recommend when the matter fits. Marcel is the address one writes to when one does not know which compass one needs. And he differs from the helmsmen whom we shall, in time, set on the same muster roll: specialists like a pilot for capital waters or a ship's doctor for operational depth — called for a narrow passage, advanced when they prove themselves.

Why this entry is also there for the young

A patriarch who reads this page sees a person who understands his hall because he himself once stood in one. A founder under thirty who reads the same page should see something else: that Palaimon is not a bank that serves only seasoned captains, but a harbour that advances apprentices. Marcel is the proof. He did not come into the house by way of McKinsey. He came by way of Nenzing, by way of ten years of CloudLab, by way of a sold almost-unicorn and failed offerings that he put in order before he named Palaimon.

Whoever wishes to sail under our flag therefore needs no pedigree. He needs craft, patience, and the readiness to listen in unknown water before he commands. That is the invitation contained in this entry — formed for the one who wishes to become a helmsman today, not for the one who was already a captain.

How one reaches him

Marcel takes few mandates at a time. Whoever wishes to reach him writes through Office Hours — letter, telephone, sometimes late at night. Whoever needs only a helmsman for a single field will be passed on to someone on this muster roll as soon as a fitting entry stands. Whoever themselves wishes to become a helmsman should say in the letter which channel they have read, not only what they want.

From his pen — where he already speaks

The full preface stands in Chapter I. The following references are the shorter addresses.

  1. I Preface to the patriarchs Chapter I · curriculum vitae, promises, limits
  2. II Logbook Chapter II · dated notes from the work at the harbour
  3. III ai-crypto.li — private notebook AI & crypto · workbench, not a mandate

Marcel is the first entry on the muster roll. Further helmsmen will follow when they sail under our flag. Friends in harbour — Anna Jelen, Carmelo Pistorio — have their own place on the chart.

If you would like to speak with Marcel, write us a letter — see Office Hours.
If you wish to become a helmsman, say so in the first sentence.
